Read and generally spent another laid back morning, Andrew massaged my back
which is a pain at present, not as good as it could be. {My back not the
massage} We went down to the main road at 1ish to see the Festival procession
which was brilliant, puts stuff like this in Britain to shame. So much effort
went into this by all the local people. First came the horses, many of them
doing the Lipizaner horses walk the Spanish
Riding School training. If you are into horses and have never seen the Lipizaner
horses performing then you are missing something very special.
Next came the Wagons - as in the old wild west wagons , {images of Rawhide
etc} drawn by two oxen per wagon, all highly decorated and the oxen are in their
finery, decorated reigns and some in head dress too. The first wagon carried the
image of San Isidro, fifteen or so followed. A lot of the wagons were playing
Spanish music with their passengers singing along, castanet's and tambourines
clattered.
After came cars and lorries etc. all decorated too, loads of the local shops
and restaurants are a part of this, all advertising their names and the drinks
they sell. Between all the various vehicles were the local people all
dressed in Spanish costume, lots of them flamenco dancing as the procession moved along.
All of them eating and drinking as they headed through the town and up to the
caves where the procession ends. There should be a lot of sore heads tomorrow
morning!
We eventually headed back to the villa to relax and have a barbeque, salad
and wine for dinner with fresh strawberries for afters, another lazy evening.
