We left Siem Reap at 8.30am it is a 4 hour drive to the border where we say
goodbye to Po Lee {Andrew takes a photo of us} We go through
passport control twice, exit and entry. Another minibus awaits us so we load up the backpacks then go for lunch at a pretty scrotty little
caf, where Pete and I watch in horror as a woman scrapes rice shes dropped
back into the pan and decide no thank you! This isnt the cleanest place weve
be to.
Boarded the minibus for another 3 hours drive to the fruit farm {no comments you
monkeys out there reading this!} There are lots of Laburnham trees here, all in
blossom and looking gorgeous in amongst the Bougainvillea, Saman and other
flowering trees.
About half way there theres a bump and the minibus weaves a
bit and stops. The back wheel is rolling down the road Pete informs us! It
is indeed, we all get out and take pix of this unexpected event while the
driver retrieves his wheel. He goes to find a garage and we find a
shop for ice cream and beer while we wait. Jonathan and I have a fit of giggles
as we discuss events, Pete tells Wi that we are not getting back on the bus till
all the wheels have been checked.
We arrive at
Green Future unscathed, Jacques the owner
meets us in his pick up truck to take us the last half mile or so as its too
steep for the minibus. Jacques a really nice Swiss man shows us our chalets, and
tells us to pick any fruit we want to eat while we stay. We settle in then
Jonathan calls us so walk up the hill to watch a fabulous sunset. Jacques having
shown us where the beer is fetches a really good take away for dinner. We sit
listening to cicadas, birds and the Geckos of course, with fairy lights
surrounding the patio this is idyllic! After dinner we play Cheat. Lots of fun
and laughter, we persuade Jacques to join us after hes washed up. A very
memorable evening.
