The Pineapple 6th February 2004

We did the usual tidy up and packing etc. and went out to the back garden for a wander around as the sun is shining today. The Pavilion looks great in the sun so we took some pix. As always we are sad to leave this lovely Landmark, sad to leave Scotland again too.
We are heading for Scarborough for the weekend instead of home and are looking forward to spending two days by the sea. We zoom off, the hills look glorious bathed in sunshine so I open the window to take some photos and hey presto our directions escape out of the window never to be seen again.
Oh heavens, do we have the hotel written down anywhere else?
As luck would have it Andrew is organised as usual, so all I have to do is map read all the way instead of following auto route.
We stop at Annandale then continue till we reach Robinhood Bay where we park and walk, its a very steep road with no cars allowed, a pretty village by the sea.
We are booked to stay at Hackness Grange Hotel within the N.Yorkshire Moors National Park. The pictures of it look stunning, surrounded by trees with a lake in front of the building. We arrive and a bored receptionist gives us half hearted directions to our suite. We dressed for dinner, found the bar and sat, service was almost as bad as the food and wine.
Suffice to say that we checked out in the morning after an equally disastrous breakfast.
We went to Scarborough, a place I have childhood memories of and found it hadnt changed much. The castle sits on the hill, the old town still looks the same, the fairy lights on the trees in the park are still the same ones! Scarborough is still a lovely old seaside town. We decided to book up the Pigsty Landmark in Robinhood Bay soon, and we will explore this area more then.
