Landed at Bangkok at 4.29pm their time {11.29 am our time} Both totally wiped
out as couldn't sleep on plane. Bangkok is unseasonably hot at 40C. We checked
in at Viengtai Hotel to single beds,
they will move us tomorrow. Decide to explore after freshening up and maybe find
dinner too.
Double take as lift opens to reveal Matt and Anna, total incredulity
as I stand gaping next to Matt, I'd read their latest e-mail from Vancouver just
2 days ago! I nudge Andrew, as true to form he hasn't even noticed them, and
Matt is looking just as confused as I. It really is them, how surreal to meet
in a service lift {not even the main public lift} in an hotel in Bangkok, this
must be the most amazing coincidence ever! We exclaim and waffle and decide, of
course, to eat together. We stay in the hotel restaurant chatting till we are
almost thrown out. Matt and Anna have been on a tour around the world for 8
months now so loads to catch up on. Had a really brilliant evening eating,
drinking beer and chatting none stop. Matt said later he should have said "Of
all the lifts in all the world, you have to walk into mine!"
